HOST KRIS COOK:

  • District description — very gerry-mandered

GOP CANDIDATE FOR STATE SENANTE DISTRICT 16, TIM NEVILLE:

  • Yale between Sheridan and Wadworth south
  • Across Bowles
  • South of C-470
  • Evergreen, Pine, Conifer, Aspen Park
  • Golden
  • All of Gilpin county
  • Eldora in Boulder County
  • In superior

COOK:

  • That is a very interesting district — lots of pieces and parts

TIM NEVILLE:

  • It’s been a joy to call on all the parts of that district
  • It’s unique
  • Lifestyles, socioeconomic backgrounds, etc are VERY different
  • The one commonality is that they want government out of their lives
    • They’ve had enough of gov.
    • They understand it’s necessary
      • But they want to tone it down in their lives
      • They want it back, working for them
      • Instead of them working for government

COOK:

  • What do you tell them

TIM NEVILLE:

  • I’ tell them that’s exactly what I plan on doing
  • Get gov, back to constitutional guideline — 3 things gov. is supposed to do
    • Protecting life
    • Protecting liberty
    • Protecting property
  • See what’s necessary and what’s not
  • Protect citizens’ paycheck
    • We work for them
    • They don’t work for us

COOK:

  • I love that attitude, that’s exactly what a representative republic is supposed to be about
  • What kind of activities are you doing in the last week, is it insane?

TIM NEVILLE:

  • It is
  • But past few months have been very intense
    • 3000 households
    • I’ve lost a couple of pounds
      • Not a bad thing
      • For a guy my age
  • Lots of phone calls
  • Nothing glamorous
    • Ground game all the way
    • A lot of nuts and bolts… and that’s what we’re up to

COOK:

  • That’s the hard part — the Republican diet plan….

TIM NEVILLE:

  • Meeting with biz groups
  • I told activist groups, that you won’t see me for the next couple of monthys
    • I don’t have time for a cup of coffee or breakfast..
    • We need to be out there talking to voters
    • Making sure we’re making our case to them

COOK:

  • What’s your first priority, after you’re elected?

TIM NEVILLE:

  • We have the orientation
  • The last time I served, I didn’t have the opportunity for a long orientation.– just a few hours, since I came between sessions, and alone
  • It will be different this time… the outline I received in the mail says
    • It will be at least a 4 day process
    • Looking forward to a refresher
    • And being down there before session starts
    • Coaching new members, hopefully
  • Target areas of legislation and game plan
    • Meeting with caucus
      • Team game at that point
      • God willing, we’ll be in the majority
      • Identifying key goals as a caucus
      • I’m sure there will be lots of cooperation as to who will run what bill
        • What makes sense?
        • Based upon background
        • Based upon skills
        • Based on experience
        • And the calendar, too.

COOK:

  • Hopefully there will be more liberty candidates in there with you

TIM NEVILLE:

  • Tony Sanchez
  • Laura Woods
  • Vicki marble
  • Chris holbert

COOK:

  • It will be a very interesting caucus

TIM NEVILLE:

  • I agree
  • Extremely talented and focused group

COOK:

  • Still got GOTV, media stuff — it’s not over yet

TIM NEVILLE:

  • You bet.
  • Media stuff comes and goes
    • Not my focus
    • I want to make sure we’re reaching out to voters
    • And we’re in ballot chase mode right now.
      • The sooner we get ballots in,
      • The sooner the phone calls stop
  • This is a very closely contested race
    • We need to account for all votes

COOK:

  • Yes, your opponent just needs to be gone
  • Contact info

TIM NEVILLE:

COOK:

  • Great
  • We’ve got to get you elected, Tim

TIM NEVILLE:

  • Thank you, Kris
  • God willing,
  • You know we turn it all over to God
  • At this point, we turn it over to the voters.
