Gunny sort of responds

Over the past month I’ve left KOA talk show host Gunny Bob between 5 and 10 messages on his voice mail. I said I had some questions about why Cumberland Press canceled his book contract abruptly, as reported by Colorado Media Matters.

I called Gunny again on Tuesday, and got an email response today:

Jason:

Thank you yet again for your latest phone call and interest in my career. However, as I have said in every email to you (RE: your many calls to me have each been answered by email and none have been returned to me as undeliverable), nothing has changed since my first reply to you.

Jason, your calls are now approaching the phone-stalking stage.

Best Regards,

Bob

I checked my junk box and found nothing from Gunny. So I wrote him back:

Hi Gunny —

We have a big misunderstanding here, because I never received any of your
emails.

You write that nothing has changed since your first reply to me, but since I
never got your first reply, I don’t know what hasn’t changed.

Can you please send me your first reply again?

Thanks.

Jason

He then wrote me the following:

Jason:

The publisher and I amicably parted ways after we could not agree upon scope and focus.

Best,

Gunny

I responded with this:

I appreciate your response. A couple follow-up questions:

Did Cumberland’s rejection have anything to do with the fact that you were discussing your new book when you stated that “every Muslim immigrant to America who holds a green card, a visa, or who is a naturalized citizen [should] be required by law to wear a GPS tracking bracelet at all times.”

Did it have anything to do with the falsehoods and distortions that Colorado Media Matters is constantly finding in your radio show…•and the ones it found in your previous book?

Did the cancellation have anything to do with the campaign by Denver activist groups to pressure businesses to pull ads your radio show?

Thanks for answering these questions.

Jason

I thought he might ignore this completely, but he did give me a one-word response to these quesitons: “Behave.”

I hate it when people tell me to behave, but coming from Gunny Bob, it doesn’t mean much, does it?
