HOST KEN CLARK:
- […] Right now, in Senate District 19, […] I am supporting the candidacy and endorsing the candidacy of Laura Woods. Laura, welcome to Freedom 560!
- What do you make of special session hubbub?
CANDIDATE FOR COLORADO STATE SENATE, LAURA WOODS:
- Governor met with some of players and rumors say he’s trying to schedule this special session
- But Dems have a fundraiser scheduled for next week
- Can’t accept PAC and lobbyist money during session
- Special Session negotiations have to be done this weekend
- Or wait until after the fundraising even
- I’m not real sure that they’re going to get this special session called
CLARK:
- Failure of leadership – as bad as Obama
WOODS:
- He hasn’t done anything to lead in his years as governor
CLARK:
- SD-19: Hudak narrowly defeated Sias (600 votes). We saw the awesome leadership skills of Hudak… she was forced to resign – thanks for your work on this
WOODS:
- You’re very welcome
- That was a gift we delivered to the citizens of this district, for sure
CLARK:
- Then they replace her with Zenzinger
WOODS:
- She’s a mini-me… a clone
- First thing she said, I’ll champion Evie’s causes
- Against guns
- For teachers unions
- And she proved to do just that in her first and only session in the Senate
CLARK:
- She voted lock step with the Marxist agenda. Yes?
WOODS:
- They did
- She sits on Ed committee – and so killed Vicki Marble’s Mom’s bill to delay Common Core
- And then has the gall to tell voters, that she’s for kids – via mailers
- She voted lockstep and barrel on all their bad bills, all of them
[The following section is transcribed from Woods’ interview with Ken Clark.]
CLARK:
- I’m sorry, Laura, try and explain this to me. How can you be pro-kids and then kill a bill that would have delayed the implementation of Common Core, because Common Core has got nothing to do about education or children.
WOODS:
- That’s exactly right. And her pro-kids statement is just her spin on taking money from the unions, not representing the people of this district. That’s exactly the reason we recalled Evie Hudak. She didn’t listen to us either. And that’s why we’re not going to let Rachel [Zenzinger] keep this seat for more than one legislative session.
CLARK:
- Well, and you know, I mean, Rachel Zenzinger, Evie Hudak– they are one in the same. They have same failed ideology. They vote lockstep with the Democrats. And you can see the devastation it has caused in the state of Colorado.
WOODS:
- Oh, yeah!
CLARK:
- I mean, we used to be in the top five of economic growth in the country. Now we’re–I think—sixteenth.
WOODS:
- Isn’t that ridiculous?
CLARK:
- Yeah. So, let’s talk about your candidacy. What is the platform that you’re running on?
WOODS:
- I’m running on a liberty platform. That’s – that’s who I am. I believe in the Constitution, the
Bill of Rights, the declaration of independence. And I will stand with those documents every day I’m in office. The Constitution and the Bible will be the two books that I use to govern me in doing that job. So that’s Constitutional conservative, smaller government, lower taxes, conservative.
[The following represents notes taken during this interview.]
CLARK:
- What is proper role of government
WOODS:
- Is to defend, protect, your life, your liberty and property
- Anything beyond that is an overreach of gov. into biz, families and personal lives
- It’s a trouncing of our liberties
CLARK:
- I DO have an agenda – I want to get the most liberty minded candidates into office. I do endorse in primaries. I pick sides. That’s why I’m endorsing your candidacy. you are an activist, you are principled
WOODS:
- Thank you very much
- Your endorsement means a lot
- Neville, Sanchez (sd-22), Queen (sd-20), in Jeffco
- We can take back 4 seats from Jeffco alone for the Rs
CLARK:
- Someone I respect is worried about Rs being able to take back the Senate, what say you?
WOODS:
- I don’t feel like there’s room to worry.
- Optimistically, it’s ours to lose
- Rs do have a reputation in shooting selves in foot and losing elections
- It’s not a guarantee
- Even if we lose a couple
- We’ll gain these four in Jeffco
- And potential for a super-majority
- I’m not a nay-sayer, for sure.—very hopeful and positive
CLARK:
- I think there’s a couple that I think we’ll lose. But I also agree that we only have to net 1. It would be nice to net 4. And then we can start killing these Marxist bills that the Dems are pounding down our throat. What are you going to do when you win your election?
- [commercial break]
WOODS:
- I think I have my sights set first and foremost on undoing HB-1303 and HB-1164 – the 2 voter fraud bills
- My fear, if these two laws remain,
- The Rs may never win another election
- Must be our highest priority
- Then repeal gun bills
- Then get rid of Common Core
- I already thrown my support to an Article V convention for proposing amendments
- Roll back the overreach of government
- Get us out from underneath socialized healthcare, f’rinstance
- Other bills that were passed in last session
- Some by zenzinger
- She is pledging 21.5 M dollars to her friends in green energy and construction
- That kind of favoritism in biz has to end
- It’s a long list
CLARK:
- Voter fraud bills—legalization of voter fraud. Lawsuit filed earlier this week, by CO Union of Taxpayers going against the West Metro Fire District around secrecy of vote. Your vote is no longer private. That’s a scary thing. Some of the officers were served just this morning
WOODS:
- Excellent
- I knew that suit was filed
- It’s more than scary
- It violate our constitutional rights
- Opening ballots
- Taking away our privacy
- We have to stand up for our rights at every turn
CLARK:
- Dangerous bills. No longer a transparent election system.. it can be gamed, it can be wrought with fraud, and yes there are penalties for fraud, but no one ever prosecutes voter fraud – it never happens. And these two bills make fraud easy. Mail ballots, and removing special district election from purview of clerks
WOODS:
- Right ,that’s exactly right
- What we warned would happen, has happened
- A fire district hired a Longmont company to run their election.
- Voters that didn’t want a tax increase 4M
- Had to fill out ballot
- Then drive it up to Longmont
- Or mail it and trust that it would get there in time, untouched
- Those are the kinds of things that 1164 allows special districts to do
CLARK:
- That’s a really good point. Durango could hire a firm in Denver… that to me is just wrong!
WOODS:
- That’s happened already
CLARK:
- Election Integrity, Voter Privacy of vote – inherent in our system, is gone now. Imagine if your boss knows how you vote. If you worked for that fire district where you’re voting for the directors of that district.
WOODS:
- Well, what about the people who don’t want a tax increase
- Citizens are identified as to their vote
- And they end up on a list for “Slower Response Times’
- This is scary
CLARK:
- You know what you’re in for. Article V – I’m the go-to person in CO for Article V convention – proposing an amendment to the constitution. What would happen if Congress wanted to raise the debt ceiling, but needed 38 states’ approval—or even 26 states. That’s power! We might be able to turn this fiscal train wreck around
WOODS:
- Wouldn’t that be awesome
- One possible action: Term-limiting
- these Congressman
- and even members of the SCOTUS
- Article V would be a great boon to States’ rights
- And debt ceiling would be a big part of it
CLARK:
- Why not do term limits? We’ve got 2 constitutions: one is original and with intent intact… the other has been corrupted and interpreted by the SCOTUS
WOODS:
- Yeah
- Ignored by the SCOTUS
- And this president
CLARK:
- Other agenda items
WOODS:
- 2 or 3 years of un-doing
- We need to stop this runaway legislature
- We’ve seen 2 or 3 sessions of them ramming legislation down our throats
- Worst bills of this past session
- $68M tax increase HB1269
- Recall regulation
- Increased the Federal minimum wage
- Removed recognition of unborn babies as people with rights
- We have to come back at it and put some sanity, common sense, and no-nonsense leadership back in Leg
- I am not a professional politician – I’m a liberty candidate
- I’m a biz owner
- I’m a wife, mother, and grandmother
- I listen to voters in my district
- I will never walk away from the constitution
- Not the state constitution
- Not the federal constitution
- I will never walk away from the constitution
CLARK:
- I love your work. You were heavily involved in recall –so you understand election law… and yes, that law that they passed this year, was directed squarely at you! Good work! You’re so effective they’re passing laws to stop you (mitigate your effectiveness)!
WOODS:
- Thank you
- There was a whole bunch of people working on that recall
- So we’ll all take credit for that
CLARK:
- How do people get involved, support you?
WOODS:
- Laurawoodsforsenate.org
- Need money
- I’m in a very expensive primary right now
- Volunteer
- Poll watching
- Door knocking
- Like my FB page
CLARK:
- Thanks, bye
WOODS:
- Congrats on new show
- Long live liberty!
CLARK:
- Lang Sias is a great guy, he just didn’t want it bad enough
- He didn’t work hard enough for it
- He lost already!
- He did
- He lost to evie Hudak
- If he really had liberty at heart, right principles in mind
- He would have stepped out like Dave Piggot did against Marijo Tinlin
- I wish he would do the same thing
- And allow Laura Woods to run against Zenzinger
- That’s what we need
- That’s what we are fighting for
- He’s already proven he cannot win that election in that district
- Get out of the way!
- Let’s get someone else in there
- That seat is ours for the takikng
- It’ll be a tough fight
- We need to concentrate on the general election
- Rachel votes in lockstep for the Marxist agenda
