Back to 17 can US rapidly will is soon as I heard about this ICBM in a I think America is those who weren’t awakened are we can now, to the reality and enormity of this threat. The first person I thought of was you because you been talking about this day for a long long time and you have access to classified info we don’t see you probably know a lot more about this to begin with. But where are we at with North Korea right now in, above all, what can be done here is an open source reporting that North Korea did successfully test the water in her condo ballistic missile that traveled the roughly 37 minutes I landed in the future, and and has the capacity to UFO land and that is the right now Alaska they believe this could hit this is an unacceptable outcome. This is something that I can morning about for years. We do this now, but at some point during the next three this term of this Pres. Pres. Trump administration and that and we’ve now crossed that red light and so the question is what the global community is going to do about it a madman armed with nuclear weapon capable of delivering it to the United States is simply unacceptable. If left unchecked, this will lead to nuclear proliferation in South Korea and Japan an arms race in Asia that must be avoided. And so it’s time to see what China is going to stand up United Nations will be holding an emergency year in session this afternoon. I have urged that as long with investor Haley that this session be an open setting so we can see that the country what they’re going to about what Russia is going to do what China is going to a lot of people who have a lot of leverage have not stood up and showed leadership on this issue at time that they do Sen. Cory Gardner against assuming for the sake of conversation. The China and Russia do nothing significant. Lots of words propose meetings, etc. but nothing significant help the nuclear rise North Korea. What can the US do at this point is is enough obviously a last resort, but is military force, even an option. So I think as the president and sector estate have said that everything is on the table and say that Pres. Obama said that about a number of places around the globe. Here’s what I believe needs to be done number one designate them as a sponsor care after the debt bought a warm beer after that that the murder of Kim Jong-Il in the stepbrother we know what they’re capable of her neck. I showed that leg was designated to sponsor of care to start enforcing our sanctions to edit the the fullest degree at. That means that we impose secondary sections likely started to lessen the on a number of Japanese it is who we know are violating our sanctions start with a with a a a blockade of goods to North Korea convince others to cut off the petroleum supplies deny access to the financial systems around the globe, not just the North Korean interview, but of those who do business with North Korea let’s start putting pressure on countries who are importing slave labor from North Korea so that they can stop, but this is what happens is North Korea says out labor around the globe. Those payments that are paid in wages those laborers then get back should back to the North Korean regime to help prop up this madman in Pyongyang. We need to put pressure on those countries. The laborers from being abused as a human rights violation in the first place. So there’s a lot more pressure and we can’t just talk about it though, we have to start implementing these up pressure tactics and start you the results that we have to have that is denuclearization of give her name on everything you say makes sense center but will that be enough in your opinion, in the end to either cause regime change or cause I Kim Jong-Il and at this point to give up his new program that we’ve got to find the leverage to make it or not because they the consequence of armed conflict or catastrophic right soul has 20 million people living in the urban area and the metropolitan area of soul in South Korea that the consequences of our conflict would be beyond the pale and that’s why we have to ratchet up the pressure to stop this from reaching that level. I believe there are plenty of tools in the toolbox left to do that, but it can’t just be the United States standing on its own have to be China has the other nations that’s what we have to start putting pressure directly on China. I’ve been the administration last week for sanctioning a Chinese bank in the home, others for for their violations of the sanctions and we just have to do more Sen. Cory Gardner, our special guest and and center one is the window the time window here within which to work or after this ICBM launch of our we already at the point where and we cross that threshold. And we have to assume North Korea has the ability to hit at least Alaska know and maybe of course our West Coast. So have we are to cross that line and does that in essence make it less urgent because at this point it’s not as if we got to stop them before they get six months down the road and get that capability will this is a new chapter versus the and it just pushes the fact that the pastor action required of me. Here’s the reality North Korea has an ICBM in the next question will be do they have a with a miniaturized warhead capable of reentry on the that will be the next question, but is only one way to find that out and I really don’t want to find out and so, so beautiful is this is that point in time where we got to get the world together global community to put that maximum pressure as the ministration is called into place against North Korea. If we don’t do this. I mean, you’re going to see a Japan you South Korea and others around the region start their own nuclear programs because they have to out of self-defense and that is a frightening development something that we been able to avoid thanks to US defense alliances for decades and something that we have to work to avoid the future. I Sen. Cory Gardner guess, Sen., if you are president dancing very well. If you were wouldn’t you have to assume at this point, even though you can’t be certain, but from everything you’ve seen in order to be safe in air on the side of protecting the American people don’t you have to assume that North Korea has the ability to hit the US right now Alaska and/or the West Coast. And in a circumstance like that. If Donald Trump doesn’t do something effective a very obvious very dramatic. I’m not necessarily talking about a military option, but if he doesn’t do something big and bold right now doesn’t he convey weakness doesn’t that invite further attack deterioration and respect for the United States and around the world. If you look at the last several decades there’s been bipartisan failure of art North Korea strategy the last eight years of strategic patients showed nothing but weakness because of the simply to let you do what you do while we ignore you and in the meantime they tested handful of nuclear weapons they’ve now succeeded as an ICBM launch and that has some weaknesses of now is not the time for doubting capability we have to assume they have the capability rate is we can’t risk the chance that they would do it and so the president must take decisive action you must stand up to China, he must stand up to Russia and that’s why the sanctions legislation I authorized must be utilized in will implement and that wouldn’t be pushing United Nations today to even more. And I think everybody is pretty United States need to understand and and demand that China hooping falls 90% of North Korea’s economy stand up and do more and you’ve been generous at the time Sen. again you been years ahead of the curve on this issue. But when it comes to China. What can the US do what can the US quietly threatened to do and then deliver on if it has to that would have such a high level impact on China that China would be likely to glad to give you look at what happened during the Iran sanctions when China really was not the coming along when it comes to sanctions against Iran that is taking place in top secondary sanctions on Chinese financial it eventually China came around to participate with the global community in the sanctions regime against Iran which led to the weakening of the Iran regime and ultimately that into the wrong way with the nuclear agreement but that kind of pressure work to get find out more involved we should do the same thing with North Korea. We need to start targeting their financial sector we need to start targeting their visitor 5000 different businesses in sign at their doing business with North Korea, which we know every single one of them through the investigation taken place both government and nongovernmental investigation and we ought to go after them and make the point that we are not going to stand by while Kim Jong-Il who destabilizes the symbols populous countries in the world and then Sen. you been generous with your time in the last 30 seconds together. I and quick take on healthcare what you think the timetable is at this point whether you think there is going to be a bill out of the Senate look, I think there there’s gotta be a bill that replaces Obama care was something the work and that you are knocking to predict what that’s going to be in a timeframe wised up, but I do think that you started to see positive directions from the that the bill dealing with stability. The marketplace dealing with driving down healthcare costs. You can see that and so additional listed languages. But since the Congressional Budget Office, at least that’s what I read the paper I what I’ve been told and so we’ll see how that debate goes, but too many Coloradans of seeing their health insurance. You might two times the that that the that their health and can’t help cost of increased nearly hundred 5% nationally Coloradans some of them are paying two times this is what they paid last year and they paid last year two times that they paid the year before. It’s unacceptable that’s what we have to find a better solution. And last question is, you know, Ben Sansone and some others have been talking about now, repeal and replace later separately would he come down and that look, I think that if you repeal it. Now, with nothing in its place. What happens if you don’t find that replacement. What happens if you don’t reach that agreement and the I think the hell we ought to move forward with an idea now and that is input as solution towards the American people of this is something that Republicans and Democrats ought to find common ground with because if Democrats refused to find a solution to a failing Obama care shame on them and that’s what we have to realize is the status quo isn’t good enough, and the alternative is a single-payer healthcare system. And look what happened in England right now know if that child. The parents who no longer have the ability to help to get you know I have the ability to determine their child state because of the has become crazy crazy will Sen. thanks for the great work you’re doing back there appreciate the time today and look forward to the next conversation and anti-ceramic take care, that’s a Sen. Cory Gardner not say that’s what I mean by value-added and EE take US Sen. like Cory Gardner and he’s leading on so many different issues and and I happen to think he’s leading the right direction on virtually everything. But even if you disagree with him. He’s leading he’s taken a stand he’s working he’s he’s recognized he’s respected is ahead of the curve on North Korea, etc. sent to me that’s full value from US Sen. 90.

Contrast that with Michael Bennett is kind of a waste of a Senate seat and just a rubberstamp for Chuck Schumer but that Cory Gardner at you and I think he’s doing it right 33 696-1971 the number you have Wayne Williams join us and was when we talk a lot of North Korea this morning as I’ve been suggesting you for months and months and months everything we talk about every day is so important but short of country being saved in the last presidential election, you know, North Korea is going to overshadow everything and don’t forget about around right behind North Korea because these twin evils seen on opposite sides of the globe sees twin evils you know that threatened the very existence of the United States of America or at least major cities in the United States, absolutely our way of life and administration after administration is kick the can down the road. I’m feeling Donald Trump is not a can kicker. He’s not a kick the can down the road kind of guy and so a combination of really the perfect storm of of when these threats are reaching their peak in reaching their nuclear capability their operational nuclear capability and I have to say Casey it’s operational when you can launch an ICBM like they did yesterday and questions be raised about the ability to handle reentry with the nuclear payload blah blah blah blah blah but but what we can do. I mean, or are we to wait until there’s a mushroom cloud over Seattle or LA or Anchorage you or do you have to assist Sen. just suggested assume that North Korea has that capability now and act accordingly. And what is the proper way forward in North Korea. So what will do his will will launch in conversation 303-696-1971 Secretary of State when percent your time

CAPLIS:  Amen. And Senator — you’ve been generous with your time — in our last 30 seconds together, a quick take on healthcare. What do you think the timetable is, at this point, whether you think there is going to be a bill out of the Senate?

GARDNER:  Look, I think there’s gotta be a bill that replaces Obamacare with something that is going to work. And, you know, I’m not going to predeict what that’s going to be on a timeframe-wise. But I do think that you have started to see positive directions from the bill, dealing with stability of the marketplace, dealing with driving down healthcare costs. You can see that. And so additional legislative language has been sent to the Congressional Budget Office, at least that’s what I read in the paper and what I’ve been told. And so we’ll see how that debate goes. But too many Coloradans have seen their  health insurance spike –

CAPLIS:  Mm-hmm.

GARDNER:  –two times that their health costs have increased nearly hundred 105% nationally. Coloradans, some of them are paying two times this year what they paid last year. And they paid last year two times what they paid the year before. It’s unacceptable. That’s why we have to find better solution.

CAPLIS:  Right. And last question: as you know, Ben Sasse and some others have been talking about, now, “repeal and replace later, separately”. Where do you come down on that?

GARDNER:  Look, I think that if you repeal it now, with nothing in its place, what happens if you don’t find that replacement? What happens if you don’t reach that agreement? And I think that we ought to move forward with an idea now, and put a solution fowards to the American people. Look, this is something that Republicans and Democrats ought to find common ground with, because if Democrats refuse to find a solution to a failing Obamacare, shame on them!

CAPLIS:  Right.

GARDNER:  And that’s what we have to realize, is, the status quo isn’t good enough. And the alternative is a single-payer healthcare system. And look what happened in England, right now, with that child.

CAPLIS:  Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

GARDNER:  The parents no longer have the ability to help — excuse me, no longer have the ability to determine their child’s state, because it’s in the hands of the government.

CAPLIS:  Crazy! Crazy. Well, Senator, thanks for the great work you’re doing back there. [I] appreciate the time today, and look forward to the next conversation.

GARDNER:  Hey, Dan, thanks for having me.

CAPLIS:  Take care!  That’s a Sen. Cory Gardner. And I’ll tell you, that’s what I mean by value-added. And, you take a US Senator like Cory Gardner and he’s leading on so many different issues! And I happen to think he’s leading the right direction on virtually everything. But even if you disagree with him, he’s leading! He’s taken a stand. He’s working. He’s recognized. He’s respected. He’s ahead of the curve on North Korea, etc. So, to me, that’s full value from a US Senator. Now, you contrast that with a Michael Bennett, who is kind of a waste of a Senate seat, and just a rubberstamp for Chuck Schumer. But Cory Gardner, you know, I think he’s doing it right. 303-696-1971 the number you have Wayne Williams join us in this when we talk a lot of North Korea this morning as I’ve been suggesting you for months and months and months everything we talk about every day is so important but short of country being saved in last presidential election, you know, North Korea is going to overshadow everything and don’t forget about around right behind North Korea because these twin evils seen on opposite sides of the globe sees twin evils you know that threatened the very existence of the United States of America or at least major cities in the United States, absolutely our way of life and administration after administration is kick the can down the road.
