      • We need bold Constitutionally conservative leadership
      • We make coalitions because we are clear about where we stand
        • Against progressive liberalism
        • Its not about me, it’s about we the people

    • They want leadership that can bring out the best in people
    • They want genuine
    • We need to meet people where they’re at – respond to people
    • We’re hearing this from ALL – crosses party lines

      • Andy Kerr is suing to rid us of it
      • People know that we can’t afford it – with Obamacare and everything else

SANCHEZ:

  • Attacks on our liberty
    • Religious liberties
    • Education and Common Core

      • People feel like the walk out their door, and they have broken five laws (Kris Cook: they probably have)

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Top priority?

SANCHEZ:

  • Second amendment
    • Repeal those crazy bills
    • Crazy that we have to pass laws to make sure our constitution is protected
    • Education
      • Teachers feel micromanaged
      • Common core has exacerbated the situation
      • Delay on Common Core was killed by Andy Kerr and the rest of education committee
      • Energy issue is key
        • This is Colorado, not NYC

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • How do you propose to use the majority?

SANCHEZ:

  • We’re going to need to clean up a big mess – look at a lot of laws for repeal

      • Support one another when it comes to this
      • Bad laws

SANCHEZ:

  • I’ve kind of vaguely thought about it
  • Transportation & energy
  • Ag – we’ve gotten away from the roots of Colorado
    • I want to bridge the city rural gap
    • Biz and Labor

HOST KRIS COOK:

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Primary election.  Differentiate yourself from you primary opponent

SANCHEZ:

  • Only one endorsed by RMGO
  • Only who’s come out against Common Core
  • Only one with management experience
  • Only one clear about where I stand on all the issues
    • Important to take on Andy Kerr with constitutional conservative
    • Being on the offense, not defense

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Final words:

SANCHEZ:

  • We are not alone
  • It’s time to take back the senate

HOST KRIS COOK:

Background?

GOP CANDIDATE FOR HD-16, TIM NEVILLE:

  • I was a helper behind the scenes in political scene in R party
  • 2011 took vacancy appointment in SD-22 to replace Kopp after death of wife
  • 2012 redistricted so I serve the eastern side
    • It became clear what politics was and wasn’t
    • Role of government
    • What I saw happening down at leg.
    • I made a decision, –even though I had to sit out two years because district was merged with SD-16
    • I decided to challenge Jeanie Nicholson

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Mood

NEVILLE:

  • Basic freedoms, property rights, pursuit of happiness is under attack
  • Paycheck (if available – policy is detrimental to job creation) is being eaten away at, through:
    • direct taxation,
    • cost regulation
    • healthcare costs, and premiums
    • Their hopes and dreams are being diminished
    • They’re frustrated and ready for change

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • CO’s greatest challenge

NEVILLE:

  • Role of Government – biggest thing
    • What it can do – defined in constitution
    • What it should do—protect life, liberty, and property
      • Everything else is up to us
      • Gov. has regulated us to death
      • Power base created for personal, Party gain, or for special interests,
        • Take away opportunities for people
        • We need leadership that’s ready to do that
          • Not bend and break – reed in the wind
          • To acknowledge that there is something bigger than me individually
          • Willing to stand on principle and defend the Constitution  and our heritage

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Priority?

NEVILLE:

  • We can walk and chew gum at the same time
  • Making sure we re-capture our ability to individually make decisions about our lives
    • Second amendment
    • Education reform & choice
      • Making sure the money follows the student
      • Allowing parents to make decisions, empowering parents
    • Regulatory reform
      • So many regulations, the cost to biz, is about the same amount that it takes to run the state of CO
      • $20 Billion / year
      • Budget of CO $23B
      • Huge hidden tax
      • Steals opportunity
        • To encourage growth
        • To encourage employment – which brings dignity

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • How do you propose to use the majority?  Punish? Or cooperate?

NEVILLE:

  • No wants to punish anyone
  • Bottom line: if we’re true constitutional conservatives, our focus is to empower individuals, not gov.
    • Using gov. as the progs have to punish people and conservatives is ridiculous
      • An anathema to us
    • There will be opportunities to reach across the aisle, and it happened this year
      • Red-light cameras and speed cameras
        • Endorsed by Dem leadership
        • Killed by vocal Governor and Denver Mayor
        • Who said they need the money
      • Audit the CO state healthcare exchange
        • Easily passed house with leadership support
        • In Senate Committee, it was killed on 4-3 party line vote.
        • More cooperation across the aisle
          • Civil liberties
          • [garbled]

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Committees you were ON?

NEVILLE:

  • The kill committee (State veteran and military affairs)
    • Everyone has to do their time
    • Good for learning about a lot of bills
    • Local government
      • Very interesting
      • Broadest expertise – working in private sector,  small biz owner
      • Job creation – dignity
      • Education
        • We need to break some molds
        • Look at different solutions
        • Empower parents
        • And do it well, before we keep expanding programs
        • Appropriations
          • KC:  boy would I like to see you on that… your voice would be very much welcomed there

  • Our campaign is grassroots campaign
  • We’re going against the Democrat Caucus Chair
    • She’ll have support from Dem special interests
    • Jeanne Nicholson

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • She [Nicholson] is on my list because of the audit of Health exchange vote

NEVILLE:

  • Most agree that transparency in gov is good
  • Jeannie and I disagree – she says it’s only been out there for 3 years
    • Federal money this year… but we still pay those federal taxes
    • Next year:  every dollar for CO taxpayers
    • If its growing out of control – we should be checking on its efficiency and its books

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Background

GOP CANDIDATE FOR HD-19, LAURA WOODS:

  • Campaign launched with recall of Hudak
    • Previously no intention of running
    • But we didn’t need someone who
      • Refused to listen
      • Was rude
      • Grabbed guns
      • Voted for sex education for 4th graders
      • I was involved in recalls
      • And decided that our citizens really do need responsible representation
      • I’m passionate about returning this state to the state I grew up in, and leaving my grandkids a better place

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Mood

WOODS:

  • Desperation, fear, frustration,
    • Common core
    • Mixed with hope
      • That the Liberty wave (recalls, #66, conservative school boards) will roll
      • Not Obama type of hope
        • Instead:  a return to Common sense leadership

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • CO’s greatest challenge

WOODS:

  • Reining in a runaway leg and government
  • Economy
    • Biz closing
    • Families and individual suffering
    • We need to create jobs
      • O&G biz, and fracking
    • One of our most serious challenges
      • Paychecks are shrinking
      • College grads not working in their fields
      • Voter fraud bills 1303 and 1164
        • I’ll work to undo them first
        • If we don’t undo them, we’ll never win another election
          • The Dems have it rigged
          • So that they can wreak havoc in our election system

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Primary to challenge Zenzinger (who took over from Hudak) who is Hudak 2.0

WOODS:

  • She’s a mini-me

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • If you succeed in defeating Zenzinger… and we pick up the majority, how do you propose to use the majority?  Shut them out? Like they did to us? Or more bipartisanship?

WOODS:

  • I was struck when I went to the capitol and met freedom fighters
    • I’m not the lone ranger, I’ll be part of a team
    • Some issues we can reach across the aisle
    • But we will NEVER compromise on principle
    • I’ll follow the lead who have been in the senate
      • Learning curve

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • What committees?

WOODS:

  • Agriculture – I grew up on a ranch outside Steamboat
  • Biz – Colorado rates 47th on biz friendly states
  • Education wouldn’t be bad
    • I’m not sure I’m experienced
    • But I’ve got a lot of passion

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Website:

WOODS:

  • Laurawoodsforsenate.org
    • Volunteer and donate

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Distinguish yourself from primary opponent

WOODS:

  • Sias has not signed the CUT pledge
    • Lines up with R principles and values
    • Not signing it means he’ll side with gov. when it comes to taxes
    • Very good relationship with UA, independent, and libertarian voters
      • They see that the way to make change is to unite.
      • Libertarians are telling me that they like my message… they won’t run anyone against me in the general election
        • Last election, libertarians factored in
        • Sias lost by 600 votes

HOST KRIS COOK:

  • Final words

WOODS:

  • I’m a liberty candidate—I am not a professional politician
  • But I will be accessible
    • To ALL constituents
    • From most progressive
    • To most conservative
    • To hear and listen and discuss and consider their views.
    • That’s been lacking in this district for a long time.
